Michaela & TJ: Black and Whites

Michaela and I met at Ohio University because we were both members of the Marching 110. When Michaela asked if I would shoot her wedding, I was elated. Due to her laid back, spunky personality, I knew she would have a wedding with a unique style.
Congratulations Michaela and TJ on your marriage!

The Little Things

I recently shot the wedding of Michaela Strauss and TJ Hart in February. I was happy to be a part of their beautiful day! When the copious amount of snow proved to be bit of a challenge that day, it was nice to step back and look at all the beauty of the wedding. It is true that the little details can make a wedding very unique. From the flowers chosen to the lyric of the songs sang, every detail matters.

Back on Track- EGT & Weddings

After a constant complaint from my dearest buddy, Matt, I decided that I really should try to keep up with my blog...which means, I actually need to start taking photos again!

I've completed all of my edits for Megan and Nick's wedding, have snapped a few of our favorite musicians in EGT and I plan to shoot another wedding in mid-February. Excited? I think so!!

Nick & Megan

Yesterday, I shot my first wedding. WOW! What a lot of responsibility it was! I now have a new appreciation of those "guys with the cameras who stand there and click pictures"...must not be that hard, right?

Wrong. Taking a part of Megan and Nick's wedding was like being a part of their wedding experience. I was very grateful that they were both so appreciative and patient. Nick's laid back demeanor and Megan's spunk made for a very unique and fun wedding.

Here is a preview...with more to come later.

While I have been busy with school and away from my blog, I have been notified of two places for which a photo of mine of dancer Zelma Badu Young, has been published.

Wedding Preparations

My good friend, Rachel, just recently got married. She asked if I would take pictures of her getting ready. I had a lot of fun being in the wedding and it was equally as fun to take pictures and share this special day with Rachel. Congrats Rachel and Sy!

Shots by Luke Potter

Luke Potter was very gracious to take these headshots of me at his studio in Athens!

Thanks again, Luke.

Best Friends Shoot

Kim and Katie, recent graduates from Ohio University, are a great duo! These two best friends met each other at a meeting held by their RA as freshmen and have been friends ever sense.

Katie, living in Texas, came to surprise Kim for a visit. Kim, wanting to surprise Katie, contacted me asking if I would do a best friends photoshoot. Kim and I browsed blogs for inspirations and compiled our ideas.

These wacky girls have made for the most fun shoot yet!!! Both comfortable in front of the camera, I was able to catch a lot of goofy shots. Absolutely nothing is posed. If these girls look like they were having a blast, they really were...and I was too.

More wacky pictures to come from Kim and Katie.

Katie & Adam

Katie and Adam are counting down the months until they get married.

This happy couple was a joy to take pictures of. This was the second engagement shoot I have done with them. The first was last winter. The weather this time was more agreeable and the fall colors were vibrant and warm.

Congratulations, Katie and Adam!

Sarah and Dominique

Sarah and Dominique are two young women interested in applying for the dance program at Ohio University. Their teacher, and good friend of mine Jen, asked if I would shoot their headshots for their applications. I gratefully accepted because this sounded like fun.
Although the shoot was quick, we covered a lot of ground. The girls and I, accompanied by Jen's boyfriend Justin, shot at two locations- the Ridges at Ohio University and Radar Hill, where I previous shot images of my friends Ali and Sarah.
The girls were sweethearts and very at ease in front of the camera. Both being so photogenic, it was easy to get the shots they needed for their applications, so I wanted to capture some more, what I called "girly", portraits in the fields of Radar Hill. Here were some of the final edits.

Afternoon at the Park

My niece is one of my best subjects! When my mom took her to the park, I jumped at the opportunity to go with them and take my camera. It was a beautiful afternoon and shooting Isabelle was a real test of my ability to capture a moment quickly, as she was having too much fun to stop for more than a second.

I loved taking picture of her running through the fountains. I've started to notice a more distinct style in my photos as well- soft and desaturated. I think it works for these shots, but I'm willing to explore other styles.

Little Details

My friend Rachel is getting married in October. She and I met at a local swim club where we were both lifeguards and coaches. When she asked me to be in her wedding, I was very grateful. She has had some GREAT pre-wedding get-togethers. The following pictures are of some of the little details that I liked from both the bachlorette party that her sister and I planed and from her bridal shower.
