My Environment

Sometimes the pictures speak for themselves. It's finals week. The mess is stacking up on the dining room table and the food we eat is getting worse for our bodies.
The worse letters possible to get for scrabble.

Dining room table. Our salt and pepper shakers are a little bit profane.
Cookin' in the kitchen.

Breakfast pizza with a mango salsa.

Dancing

Photographs: When the Baker Center (student center) opened at Ohio University, there was a week where the center was booming with events. Many different groups performed including aforementioned SMO. These pictures were taken of students dancing at the Baker Center's opening weekend. They were taken with my 52mm film SLR.

Mouths

Tyra Banks likes to brag about the fact that she's a supermodel because she has this innate ability to "smile with her eyes". Good for her, but normal people like to smile with their mouths. I took these images in order to show that one feature of your face can clearly express an emotion.

Photograph: This quirky image was compiled on photoshop with images I took using my nikond60. The lighting was, unfortunately, very poor as they were taken under bathroom lights.

Peaches

Still trying to master taking pictures of food. I think food has been the hardest thing to photograph. When I cut up the peaches I used to French toast, I immediately fell in love with the colors of the fresh fruit.
Movin' to the country gonna eat a lot of peaches
I'm movin' to the country I'm gonna eat me a lot of peaches

Movin' to the country I'm gonna eat a lot of peaches
Peaches come from a can they were put there by a man
In a factory downtown
If I had my little way Id eat peaches everyday
Sun soakin' bulges in the shade

Movin' to the country I'm gonna eat a lot of peaches

I took a little nap where the roots all twist
Squished a rotten peach in my fist
And dreamed about you woman
I poked my finger down inside makin' a little room for a ant to hide
Natures candy in my hand or can or a pie

Isabelle

Homesick adj. Acutely longing for one's family or home.

I get homesick easily. I love school, but when I am at home in Cincinnati, I'm somewhat of a homebody. In high school I went to school, went to swim practice, had piano lessons, and then came home to do homework. That was it. I'm still that way when I go back during my winter, spring, and summer breaks.
I enjoy being home and spending time with my family, especially with my niece Isabelle (or Beatlehead, which is what I like to call her). When I am away at school I feel like I miss out on a lot of things regarding my family, especially how Isabelle is growing up.
At one time that I left for school she was barely putting together utterances. I got back from break and she was speaking in full sentences. I now hear that she is making up her own language and getting very tall. Hopefully I will get to spend a lot of time photographing her with my new camera this summer.
She's a ham!

Photographs: These photos were taken in the summer at my house. Isabelle, I believe, is almost three when these were taken. All three pictures were taken on my HP point-n-shoot.

Katie & Adam

It's come to that point in my life where people I know are starting to get engaged and married and it's a little unreal. I talked to my sister about this over break. I mentioned that I was so excited for my friends getting married (I now know three), but that I was shocked that I have reached that point in my life where I would have to be attending weddings where I actually knew the bride and groom. I will no longer just be someone's date, the photographer's assistant, or that "awkward young girl" that came with her parents. My sister had the same experience, though when her friends were getting married she was just starting medical school. Her advice for me, in essence, was to be prepared to keep my weekends open and save some money for bridesmaids dresses.
Engagements are very exciting and even more exciting when you're asked to take the photographs! ;) I was tickled when Katie, my sororoity sister and friend, asked me to take her engagement photos. This is the first time I have ever photographed a couple and I was very nervous, as they probably could tell. Katie and Adam were very patient subjects, and I'm grateful for that.

Photographs: These are a few pictures from the first set of engagement shots. I was a little dissapointed in the weather, so Kaite, Adam, and I made tentative plans to reshoot in the spring when it's much more enjoyable outside. I look forward to shooting with them again!

Yeah Toast!

All around the country coast to coast,
people always say what do you like most,
I don't wanna brag i don't wanna boast,
I always tell 'em I like toast.

oh wee monsieur bonjour cool cat,

FRENCH TOAST!!

Photographs: I made French Toast for the first time this weekend. I used the macro, no flash, setting on my Nikon D60 to photograph the food. I thought brunch turned out well and wanted to share it with everyone who didn't get to enjoy it through photographs.
